Full-year Australian tax resident. Pay periods divide the annual estimate; your payslip withholding can differ.

Includes the $1,000 standard work deduction for 2026-27, limited to salary earned. No other work deductions are claimed. This saving may arrive when you lodge your tax return.

Medicare uses the latest legislated low-income thresholds. The final 2026-27 thresholds may be increased.

Super uses the annual minimum contribution cap. Your contract may provide more.

The same salary, two different budgets

The headline $100,000 does not tell the whole story. In this example HELP changes the annual result by $4,421. Employer super is an additional $12,000 paid into retirement savings, not money for day-to-day bills.

Use the calculator to switch private hospital cover on, include super in the package or change salary sacrifice. Each change is shown in the breakdown so you can see what caused the difference.

Is this a good salary for you?

Start with your own budget rather than a national label. Housing costs, household income, dependants and where you live can change what the same salary feels like. A national average does not measure what you need for your bills.

Compare the offer with roles that have similar responsibilities and hours. Then check the costs of work: commuting, unpaid overtime and any benefits you actually use. A higher headline salary can come with a longer working day.

Comparing another offer? See $90,000 after tax and $110,000 after tax under the same annual tax settings, then compare the change in take-home pay with your own costs.

Check the wording on the offer

Our $100,000 examples use the same tax year and personal settings. A total package including super leaves $607 less each month than $100,000 in salary plus super. With the salary paid plus super, HELP changes monthly cash by $368.

Paycalcmate worked example for 2026-27. Full-year Australian resident; single; salary plus super; eligible $1,000 work deduction; no qualifying hospital cover. HELP, where shown, assumes enough debt for the full repayment. Amounts are rounded annual estimates, not payslip predictions.

What the result tells you

The estimate starts with a full year of the same salary. It works out income tax, the low income tax offset where eligible, Medicare, any Medicare levy surcharge and compulsory HELP repayments. Employer super is shown separately.

For 2026-27, the annual estimate includes the new standard work deduction for eligible salary income unless you turn it off. The deduction is settled at tax time. Your employer may withhold more during the year, so the figures are a budgeting guide rather than a promise about your next payslip.

Weekly, fortnightly and monthly figures are annual amounts divided by 52, 26 and 12. Payroll timing, a part-year job, other income and personal deductions can change the final result.

Common questions

How much is $100,000 a fortnight after tax?

In the stated 2026-27 example it is about $2,992 without HELP, or $2,822 with HELP. Your private cover, deductions and tax circumstances can change this.

Does the calculator include super?

Employer super is shown separately from take-home pay. Choose “Package includes super” if the figure on your offer includes it. The standard guarantee rate is 12%, subject to the maximum contributions base.

Will this match my payslip exactly?

It estimates your annual tax position and converts it into pay periods. Payroll withholding, rounding, other income and deductions can change the amount paid each payday. The standard work deduction may be reflected only at tax time.
